the beginning of the captain andy's boat ride up the napali coast, look we are having fun.

here is the point where captain andy said, uh oh, we should turn this baby around and get back to the dock because the hurricane force winds were rippin' us a new sail. i thought it was a blast, jon thought it was pretty cool. seeing as jon is an eagle scout and he is always prepared, thus making me always prepared we were the only ones on the boat with the proper wind and rain gear. jon was very pleased with his boy scout readiness.

best news of the day for me is we got all our money back and had a sweet three hour boat tour for FREE. SCORE, now we are going out on the beach to get our 50 min massages.

FOOSBALL, WAHOO!

jon and i had a great dinner at "the beach house". earlier in the day we had surf lessons with sparky the total surfer dude. we stood up pretty much every wave. surfing in hawaii is much easier than surfing in california. the waves are much more forgiving. then we went boogie boarding and snorkeling with the locals. jon says we were getting dirty looks, but i just don't look at the locals and then you won't get dirty ones. simple as that.

jon and i went to check out this crazy beach that has been eroded by the sea spray it is called maha'ulepu. we had an awesome time exploring and getting hit with waves crashing against the lava and sandstone.

jon searching for the perfect boogie board wave. we did about a hour of boogie boarding today out at the beach right in front of our hotel.

oops, someone forgot to read the sign and went out onto the sprouting horn lava field. i was wondering why jon was in such a bad mood while we were out there, but he didn't tell me until we got back to this sign (that i didn't read) that we weren't supposed to be out there. he is so into abiding by all the rules!

holy toledo, the waves are big here!

some of the erosion in the sandstone rocks where we were exploring for hours. it was so cool. good thing jon is a geography major and geography is one of the few A's i got in college.

jon and i bought a frozen coconut on the side of the road today while we were driving back from boogie boarding. i had so much sand in my swimsuit after boogie boarding i could have built a sand castle in the shower.

mini tiger and the hens that run the island outside our window. there was a big hurricane here in 1992 and all of the roosters survived, so there are tons of them on the island. you can hear them crow in the morning, luckily we are on mainland time so waking up at 6 a.m. is not a problem.

waimea canyon and the falls.

the swinging foot bridge, this thing was kinda scary, and jon didn't like it when i jumped up and down on it. it swayed pretty bad.

me falling a bit into the water when a big wave came on the 17 mile long polihale, hottest beach sand ever beach. it was a beach break so you really couldn't go out into the ocean very much, only up to your knees or you would have been carried out, and there were no lifeguards around to save you.

we hiked a ways to get to a sweet spot on the polihale beach where there were only about five other people within 5 miles of us.

coffee on the porch.

moon-like terrain on our way up waimea canyon.

today we did the whole north and east side of the island. stopped at a coffee plantation and saw production of that and bought a video. it is really pretty interesting and i got the cheapest iced coffee i have ever bought (1.50) then came back to the hotel around being out exploring the north and east side for the past 8 hours and sat in the hot tub when it started to pour rain. it was pretty neat. now we are eating take out mexican and relaxing. more to come.

pamela dupont aka the griffman

Thank God they made it from houston. so my dad, todd, jill, and griffin and gracen all made it. they had to leave their luggage with their driver, but they made the flight. my dad said the airport was shoulder to shoulder craziness "busiest day of the year"!

Wednesday, September 21, 2005

well, it is less than a week and jon and i will be hopefully enjoying some time in the sun.

as for now, it is stress-farm central at stonewall place. not about the wedding, but about rita the hurricane that is going to hit houston on saturday. dad called tonight and changed his flight to come in earlier on thursday with todd and jill's just to make sure he could get out of town, since all flights are booked out.

they put everything in a safe place and are just locking up and coming to boulder. luckily my family lives on higher ground than most of houston, but about 20% of the wedding guests are from houston, and it isn't looking too good.

so anyway, we'll just hope and pray it all works out for the best. just as long as my family and friends are safe is all that i am stressing about.

i need to catch some sleep now. tomorrow people start pouring in. i'm excited about that!

we still love each other, and we are getting a little crazy

mimi has the weather channel on 24/7 watching "rita" as it plows towards houston. i say, "rita, you best step off of that grid you grinding, let the people come to the wedding."

my view of jon for an hour today while he was putting up the new fan. I was holding the ladder. then we went to kfc to celebrate. i found that i am not keen of eating chicken with the skin ON, and deep fried.

Teton's Blog- Livin' It Up In The Bubble

Read Teton's Blog- Livin' It Up In The Bubble, my better half

today jon worked so hard on getting the house ready for visitors coming for the wedding. sara, his sister, came over and helped him move stuff since i am still not walking very well. thanks to them both, i can officially feel my stress level lowering and owe it to their hard work. (and my wedding planner, michelle, and my mom's too) home stretch... finally.

jon mentioned today that he remembers the day after he proposed that my stress level about the wedding started then, you can only imagine the bridezilla he was dealing with earlier this week. (falling up the stairs, getting sick and sleeping for 27 hours, then limping around asking him to do stuff, and a lot of yelling)

pic of me at the orthopedic surgeon's office examining a model knee. turns out that have a grade 2 tear to my MCL which is my medial collateral ligament. this is the next best thing to being kicked because i don't need surgery and it should heal in 4-6 weeks. (countdown to wedding 9 days) lesson learned: don't run up the stairs too fast eager to eat your string cheese.

Wednesday, September 14, 2005

just watched the movie CRASH, it was intense and very good. very artsy, not for the weak, this thing is seriously intense, but a must see for movie elitists. that is something i call myself.

my life is simply riveting right now. after working a week straight on the wedding, then twisting my knee as i athletically ran to the top of the stairs eager to eat my string cheese, i have now been laid up in bed unable to move for 24-27 hours. i guess i was simply warn out and my body just went into a major flu situation, but it wasn't the flu, it was like my body putting me on bed rest because it was pissed off at me for working it to the brink. jon took care of me. after initially finding me slung over the toilet yesterday morning and then ignoring me because he thought i was "just fine" as he put it. he finally figured, damn, this girl is messed up and went to get me sprite, pepto, and then made me homemade chicken rice (all we had in the fridge) soup. i am still not 100% and i go to the orthopedic surgeon today and we will see what he says about my knee. yipee.

Monday, September 12, 2005

last night i was running up the stairs from the kitchen to my room with some delicious string cheese in my hand and when i got to the top of the stairs my body kept moving but my knee didn't. thus, i twisted my knee really bad, squeezed the string cheese through my fingers from the pain, and then punched the floor. being an athlete i have never felt this kind of pain before (i guess i am lucky). here's the bad news, i have the wedding in less than two weeks and i am walking like a gimp right now. perfect timing huh?

jon and i being stupid in some new ebay product that i am selling for a friend.

the next two weeks leading up to the wedding are going to be crazy. i am on fire with this wedding thing, i may have flames following me wherever i go! today jon is doing his last road race of the year and i am treating today like any other day, working on the wedding... running errands everywhere and gettin' it done. picture is in the foley's parking lot in boulder where they are rebuilding a mall. pretty view huh?

met up with the denver spoke team and our team money man, the dong, the Vietnamese Louisianan, and i can only understand every third word he says, and every sentence ends in, "you know bud?" anyway we all met on east colfax at good friends and had a very nice dinner and talk with each other. (notice everyone has devil eyes except for me, very telling)

here is a blurry picture of everyone. from left to right it is jon, bridget, michelle (wedding planner), me (behind the camera). we got so much done today with the wedding. got the wedding bands, got sara's shoes, she's going to take the dress to get altered, and met with the new chautauqua coordinator and we were very happy with her. that took a lot of stress off of me. michelle then came over to plan the events for the wedding day. *picture was taken* paul (officiant) came over to pick up a book from me for the wedding and ended up staying and we had an awesome time. so, all in all, it was a very wedding focused day. wahoo, i am officially getting excited.

jon and i work on our base tans for the kauai honeymoon. look how white jon is!!!

did a couple laps in the 10 meter pool at creekside in beaver creek. it was pleasantly warm, i have to admit, not swimming laps for over a year felt a little weird.
