jon is back from vegas. his plane has a mechanical so he had to sit in the vegas airport for 10 hours and finally made it home at 2 a.m. last night. today we are yet again, still moving all of this crap out of the house. tomorrow we are moving the whole garage and then the next day the movers come for the furniture and stuff. i know, you are wondering how we can be moving for a week +. i don't know the answer i just know we have a lot of crap.

gotta go fix my flat on my cross bike cause it is time to race.

i am watching arrested development season 2 re-runs. seriously, how did this ever get booted off the air? it is the funniest show out there, and if you haven't seen it you must rent the series. i like it so much that i bought them all. that's a big deal for me since i don't buy a lot of dvds.

one year ago today jon and i walked in really high weeds at the base of the flatirons together.


to celebrate we did a cyclocross race (possibly the hardest i've raced all year my indicator is i thought i felt some throw up creeping up on the first lap) and then went to the morrison inn at the base of red rocks.

okay, this just sounds gross. the star by it means it is a customer favorite. again, gross.

anniversary burritooooooos.

jon surprised me with some flowers. he was running late in getting home, and i was not very happy about his tardiness since i was the first to race today, but how could i be upset when he handed me a dozen red roses.

mom and dad had our cake top re created to eat tonight. deeelish.

it is official, i don't ever want to move again. today jon and loaded and unloaded kitchen stuff, our gizzillion books (my car was draggin'), tons of ebay inventory, and other random stuff that we have already packed.

then i put together the new huge dining room table and chairs we bought, and jon re-routed a gutter drain that was too close to the foundation. we also set up the bike room (garage) and jon is still over there putting garage paint with non-slip stuff down on the concrete.

tomorrow is the first cross race of the year for us, and just happens to be our 1 year anniversary. yeah, we did it!

jon and i closed on our new house today. we are really excited, but i am dreading the actual move which won't take place until october.

critical mass this morning at 8 a.m. we met at amante downtown for cyclocross practice. i think it was the biggest turnout ever with about 50-60 of us crazy crossers.

we do a trial run through of the course. look at all that dust. when i got home (since i was surfing the back) i had so much dust/dirt caked on my face.

we had a serious bottleneck on the course.

jon jumping the barriers. he is so smooth. wish i could do that, maybe one day if i keep practicing.

good job to kristen armstrong winning the time trial world championships for the u.s. today.

my prediction for next year if selected for the u.s. team is a win for alison powers. she has beaten kristen once or twice and dang she's fast.

meanwhile i will continue to look fast but keep placing third at local races.

i went red rocks last night to watch sheryl crow play. that place is simply put, awesome. no, she didn't play leaving las vegas . i know it is her break-thru song and all, but man, it is an annoying break-thru song.

concert rules according to beth:
1. don't sing in my ear
2. don't stand in front of me
3. don't stumble in front of me because you are too drunk to walk straight
4. don't hug me if i don't know you (we aren't all as touchy feely as you)
5. don't dance like a hippy unless you are a hippy, and please no air guitar during solos

the only way to travel to places with limited parking is in a mini. syrae drove her mini and fit in a really mini space. (strange that we try to get the best parking spot when we are two avid cyclists. hummm)

um, this right here is unheard of. me on the podium with allison "hay bale" powers (1st) and sarah "shammy time" uhl (2nd). we were 1, 2, 3 in the overall parker omnium.

the beginning of the criterium today. sharon the hammer and i got a call up. (meaning we are called up to the line so we get to start at the front of 50 women) something we have never had before, and let me tell you it was pretty pretty cool.

lara kroepsch and i in a tiny break. this is the corner where the crash that involved half the field happened. lisa matlock attacked, i got on her wheel and together we took the corner really hot. the girl behind me couldn't handle our need for speed and took out everyone behind us.

jon knit a sweater in his race today. he was in the back tailgunning/punching tickets/surfing the back to stay out of the crashes and keep his wrist safe.

the madre and padre tarkington came to support us at the race today.

after the race we were starving. here is a mini cheeseburger, it doesn't look mini because renee has mini hands. prior to this she drank a mini diet coke. (again, didn't look mini in her hands)

sharon and alison enjoy three day old stale bagels.

sharon 30 minutes later enjoys french fries and french onion soup. she loves american food with the word french before it. french dip with french dressing is her favorite.

one more thing, thanks to both sharon and renee for doing everything they could in the crit today. you guys are awesome, and i am really proud of how our team raced.

jon and cindi baker had us over for pizza and a new baby boy viewing. little tid bit of trivia here: did you know that jon and cindi have known each other all of their lives.? they have a picture together when she was 6 months old and he was 3. that's pretty crazy.

my jon making faces at baby baker. yes that is chuck coyle in the background, all 7 of us surfed the internet together after watching the vuelta. we found out tonight that group surfing of the internet is actually really fun. i think it will catch on.

so since i am officially burnt out on my road bike i went for a cross bike ride along the doudy draw path. we have one more road race this weekend, and it just happens to be the biggest race in colorado this year. too bad i am so over racing on the road. bring on the cyclocross! i had a large obstacle to cross when i got to this point. this isn't just a cyclocross barrier it is a, man i hope this cow is in a good mood barrier. i jumped off my bike, shouldered it, and went through the ravine and came out on the other side really far away from ms. bessie.

i just went on a 3 minute ride with anne. it is pouring.

sparky pulled it off in the crit today. she had a 33.3333333333333333% of winning since she was in a break with 2 others and she did it!!!!! so when she got on the podium we handed her the poor man's champagne: a 40 oz. miller high life (cause that's what snoop dog drinks). here is a shot of her in the midst of festivities.

with today's win and 800 points i think we have the best all around team competition wrapped up in colorado. good job vitamin cottage.

HOLY COW DRACULA...on the bathroom door at the park. i protected my neck at all times while in the bathroom. it was kinda hard to do.

anne and i went out on a ride yesterday. about 30 minutes into the ride there was lightning and craziness. a mass of bike riders all headed down the canyon at the same time. it was rain storm chaos. we made it home and were drenched, but did manage to get in our 3 x 5 min tt efforts.

here's what we need: specialized epic marathon mountain bike for jon since he is experiencing postpartum depression on the road bike, real small cyclocross bike or frame for jon's sister, and nothing for me thank you. if you have any of these items you would like to unload for a reasonable price then email me at bfisk99@excite.com
