to keep myself busy in these last few weeks of pregnancy i've been doing some mulching and sprinkler work. amy root, (landscape extraordinaire and appropriately named after a part of a tree and or plant) came over along with c-ray and we did some major landscaping. i'm pretty much going crazy waiting. going so crazy that i actually enjoy working on sprinklers.

mulching with the classic baby in my tummy pose.

c-ray and an axe vs. teeny tiny helpless tree.

how awesome is this donnie wahlberg airbrush jacket! it's a keeper.

is it just me or does WALL-E look like a direct descendant of NUMBER 5?

this might be a question for ally sheedy.

i went out to lunch with amy d. yesterday, and she whips out these free meal passes for tokyo joe's, but never really told me how she got them when i asked. turns out she's june's athlete of the month.

so lesson learned here is if you want free tokyo joe's in june ask amy to go with you.

also, we tried their lettuce wraps (since they were the most expensive thing on the menu, and we had the free pass) they are really good and super healthy too.

i just walked down to spruce pool, paid to get in, lightning struck in the distance, lifeguards told us to get out (i never even got in), received no reimbursement, then i waddled home.

now i'm really sweaty and want to get in a pool.

denver must of had a really exciting bike to work day. (9news)

amy d. woke me up at 6:30 a.m. so we could participate in bike to work day. (even though all we did was bike to free food and didn't go to work) ideal market, our first stop, opened at 7 a.m. and there was no line forming. apparently we're real good at forming lines, cause we formed one, and everyone followed our lead like a herd of cows.

amy, dan, and nicole enjoying their breakfast.

last night we had a two birds with one stone party at our house. we celebrated madre tarkington's birthday and father's day for the padre. we had tee and cakes cupcakes which once again did not disappoint.

at some point in the conversation the madre told jon about the dollar store kitty cats she bought to keep the squirrels out of her garden. she just happened to have one in her car and we inherited a faux fur mini kitty.

the kitty takes his new post at the bottom of our silver maple.

those eyes are piercing. so far this morning there have been no tree rats (squirrels). we'll keep you updated on kitty's ability to serve and protect our tree.

this morning i thought it would be a good idea to wake up at 4:30 a.m. and drive to ft. collins with jon and watch him race. turns out it was not "a good idea". after this blog post i need to take a major nap.

the beginning of the men's pro 1/2 race.

at the start of the women's race the tie dye twins wave (in purple, you may not recognize them without their tie dye) while sharon checks her nail polish. (far right)

my hike today in ft. collins involved a lot single track and me missing my mountain bike.

make sure to sign up for the pool on sparkle's blog. (click here)

okay here is my review on the anne "U B" white trail. (at least that's what i call it). i went there for the first time today, and although the only other trail goers were a bunch of geriatrics i think this is my new favorite trail. it is really easy, cool in temperature, smells like trees, and you follow a babbling brook the whole way.

becky puttin' the hurt on me on the downhill. and yes, she is wearing her pepperdine swimming shorts from 14 years ago. good news is that they still fit... not many people can say that about 14 year old shorts.

chellie is teaching me the ways of the plow and the spade. she's planted some lettuce, spinach, snap peas, radishes, tomatoes and a variety of herbs in our garden. she and ruby come over and tend to it about once a week. we then share the greens, it's all so very boulder! i'm learning so much about gardening, but mostly i just sit in my zero gravity chair and gossip about bike racing while she pulls weeds.

thanks chellie, big shout out to you and your spades and hoes.

no more making fun of me for making you take off your shoes in our house.
i'm protecting future generations.

gma clip and story.

this doesn't look like a sprint finish, it looks like he's stealing home. (story here)

jon's cheering section at the crit yesterday.

jon attacked with 20 minutes to go and ended up soloing in for the win. it was really fun to watch.

i caught the end of his win. oops, missed the big victory shot, but it was really that stupid delay on the camera that screwed me up.

the women's race was later in the day, like 5:45 p.m., and baby and i couldn't hang out another hour in that sun. i heard that tp (not toilet paper, but tifffany pezzulo) won, and renee came in second.

some things i like about traveling to bike races without racing.
1. i don't have to pack a bike and spare wheels.
2. when i get home i can unpack my bag in under 3 minutes.
3. no stress, no warm up, and no sore legs.
4. i can eat at anytime during the day and not worry about throwing it up later in a race.
5. chillaxin on a blanket cheering.

since there is a safeway across the street and a sweet shaded picnic area here at the cedar lodge in glenwood springs the gang decided to do the bbq thing. even though there was some high pitched screaming, consuming of rocks, and children falling from trees 8-10 feet up we all had a great time, and no one was seriously injured.

tonight we made sparkles laugh so hard she and her skort ran away and fell down. it is so fun when people laugh that hard.

jon and i are going on our first and only vacation this summer. (of course the vacation involves a bike race) we are headed over to glenwood springs, co for one night. it just doesn't feel like summer to me since we haven't done any vacationing/mountain bike riding/racing in the mountains.

i turned 36 weeks preggo yesterday... one more week and this kid is considered full term.

ethiopian food

tonight jon, amy, shippy and i were all fighting for food. (dave towle joined us too, but only does american foods) note to self, ethiopian food isn't all it's cracked up to be, dave was the smart one in this case.

btw, they didn't even give us hand towels or a spritz of hand sanitizer to clean our hands before digging in with dirty fingers, and our waitress fed amy with her dirty fingers and told her it was a "tradition". glad she didn't pick me for the "tradition".

yesterday sara and jane (jon's mom and sis) hosted baby t's shower. it was a blast, here are some pictures of the festivities.
there was a lot of tie-dye at the event. my favorite form of clothing, i love the hippy look.
people eating, and madre tarkington getting a little lucy time in before baby t.
baby t got a lot of much needed stuff. who'd of thought something so little needs so much.

whoa, a heated game of tie-dye badminton. anne's going for the slam, jenna's there to back her up, and sparky seems to be perplexed. that's team work at its finest.
lisa explaining the joys of breastfeeding to the expecting and slightly concerned mom kendra.
hayden topping her fruit with a little cake. she knows how to make anything remotely healthy taste much better: add some sugar.
the women's vitamin cottage team. (lucy is the new climber, we just need to find a eddy merckx bike that fits her)

for those of you that live in boulder, but have never seen boulder falls (like me), here's what it looks like. it's cool, but i don't know if it is a "must see" if in the boulder vicinity like the tourist book says.

Saturday, June 07, 2008

since my parents have been here we've been doing a lot of walking. here's us on the bridge over the boulder creek. yesterday (when the pic was taken) was tube the creek to work day, and it started about the time we were walking by the creek. i saw absolutely no one participating in the activity. what are you supposed to do walk into work drenched with a inflated interube around your waist?

let the badmintoning begin.
me throwing the racquet because it's hard to move with this little one strapped to my belly.
jon and mimi in an action shot... mimi really going for it here.

my parents left houston at 2 a.m. and made it to boulder by 5 p.m. (which would mean they really left at 1 a.m. mountain time which is insane.) i think my dad really wanted to be a trucker when he was little and he is living out his dreams of the open road now. they said the drive wasn't too bad. i say differently.

we walked up to radda for a little gnocci and whatnot. the walk was a bit slow for me since i am pretty much a professional walker since it is my only form of exercise.
