looked at the front page of the daily camera (local boulder paper) and this is what was on it! this got about the same amount of coverage as the horrifying images of louisiana and mississippi. we live in a bubble, it is now official. sad, but true.

volleyball guru, alex, aka "sandy" raking the pit getting ready for the big bashing. it was me and alex against syrae and jon. (both self-proclaimed non ball sports people) the "barefoot poopers" (alex and me) came through with some nice bump set spikes against the other team. it was all about taking off your shoes and feeling the sand. jon and syrae kept their shoes on. not a good idea.

.

syrae doing some sweet moves on her new pink bike

getting ready to play a mean game of volleyball on alex's homemade sand court.

sweet view (don't worry our bikes are off to the side, we don't wear our helmets ALL the time).

the blair witch trail and it's downed trees i talked about earlier. go syrae.

did somebody say witch?

jon takes his job so seriously he makes himself and his clients dress in their cycling gear while scheduling the training plans!

jon and i went on an epic mountain bike ride in breck today with alex and syrae. my favorite trail was called the blair witch trail, which went through all of these downed trees from windfall, it was crazy. there are pictures to come. then we got stuck in a huge storm which involved a lot of shivering and then ducking from lightning. not too fun so we went into the local recreation center for a bit and then booked it back home to alex's house. alex was so awesome, she made us tomato bisque from scratch and some grilled cheese to go along with it. now we are going to play volleyball on her new sand court. i love this place!

Friday, August 26, 2005

drive to breckenridge to visit alex in her awesome cabin in the woods. this is arapahoe basin where jon used to be a ski patroler.

Thursday, August 25, 2005

maggie and i at the puma shoe rack doing our "3rd grade picture pose". puma is so sweet! you have to go to the cherry creek mall and visit nancy. she'll be the one in green and white tube socks.

here is a picture of Lawrence the only guy at the Mac makeup counter with a dog collar on his wrist (well, the only guy in there period) figuring out my make up color for the wedding. When Lawrence was done I looked like I was going to open Barnum and Bailey's circus with my new juggling act.

preview of mr. griffin in his tuxedo. oh my goodness, if you aren't coming to the wedding then this should make you change your mind.

preview of tux shirt, diaper, and what griffin calls a "seatbelt or here he is using it as his indian outfit " really a cumberbund. his sissy (gracen) taught him a lot about playing dress up and the land of makebelieve.

anne and i riding up the road towards jamestown after doing some intense intervals. right after i took this an ambulance came screaming around the corner passed us and then almost flipped going into another corner. we were thinking how great that would have been to take pictures of and put on the blog. us saving a rolled ambulance.

the hill we had to go over (backside of old stage) to get back to civilization.

nothing like a cup of coffee and a sunday newspaper filled with best buy and target advertisements.

anne and i went out to do some sprint work on marshall road and she totally sprinted this 70 year old man in a ripped plaid shirt and a squeeky mountain bike. way to show them how it is done over there on marshall road! i know she was just showing off for the horhees.

this goose loves long trail runs on sunday mornings.

anne and i visited vin and max on our bike ride today. check out vin's boxers.

yesterday was very productive. jon and i devoted the whole day to doing chores that we had to get done before the wedding. here is our list:

drop off ford exploder for an oil change at 28th street garage, get breakfast at the walnut cafe, get the title on the ford exploder changed from mustang trac. company to jon tarkington (quite the feat).

visit CU during new student orientation and fish our way through the halls looking for the aspen room where we are going to have the rehearsal dinner, go to wells fargo and open our joint account (pictured), eat green lollipop at wells fargo, (beth throws hers out thinks it is too sour). pick out wedding band at hurdles jewelry, (get matching ones) beth tries to convince jon she is going to die if she doesn't get something to eat and wants to go home, jon won't let her go home because he knows she will check her email and fiddle around for too long.

go to ink's coffee up in louisville for a ice blended type coffee and a chocolate crumble cake that jon says is a good lunch at 3 p.m. go to home depot and register for tools, (jon's favorite part), go to william sonoma to take back repeat gift, visit the hard to find bathrooms at flat iron crossing on the way to jcrew to take back jill's bridesmaid dress, then the grand finale of the entire day for beth... go try out the sleep number beds at select comfort. (that took 1 hour) go to great indoors to price under cabinet lighting for the kitchen, get a deal by asking for a discount, and then finally, eat sushi at 8 pm at night.

go home.

a very excited jon while registering at home depot for the wedding. notice, the exact same face he made while getting his picture taken in the tux store. Coincidence? i think not.

jon trying on his tux for the wedding. he LOVES his green striped gap shirt, and we have decided that it is the best look for the wedding. mimi fisk and madre tarkington what do you think???

The Wedding Crasher, Fred, Jon and I's friend at VeloSchmooze (velonews) wrote a big article on the Wedding of the cycling community that happened last Saturday. Jon is mentioned, and it is pretty funny blog.

streching after a short bagel shop ride. thanks for the pic leah. i had nothing else to post today.

Monday, August 15, 2005

If you still haven't seen the HBO sitcom, Curb Your Enthusiasm you must. Tonight Jon and I are sitting around watching it and are now on our sixth episode. It is so funny.

Larry David, the co-creator of Seinfeld features footage of David (playing himself) at home, at work and around town, as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities.

jon tries out his new team bike and team uniform today. seems the teams want to take on a more business-like apperance.

sara and chris had their wedding party today, pics of the two fams together.

Friday, August 12, 2005

jon and i enjoying cat and matt's rehearsal dinner. we went to the west end which has changed ownership and the food is now good there. tomorrow we have a crazy day. we have sara and chris' marriage celebration at chautauqua park and then jon needs to rush over to st. johns to be in cat and matt's wedding. so pretty much two weddings in one day.

cathy and matt at their rehearsal dinner tonight at the west end. tomorrow's the big day kids!

so this waiter was serving us at the west end and he had the strangest facial expressions and he was really into using his eyebrows when he talked, so we took a picture of him, and named him ZEUS.

tonight jon and i were so happy to finally be able to ride our bikes to a bbq in boulder. you see, we live on the WAY EAST side of town and everything really "cool" happens with the gen X'ers in North Boulder. so tonight when we found out the bbq was about half a mile away we were thrilled. i figure we just live in the more mature part of boulder, where people have kids in college and stuff like that. i believe they are called "empty nesters". well, that's where we live, in empty nestville, or "mom, can i move back into your house after collegeville." i sure did, free rent.

where'd that tooth go??

Tuesday, August 09, 2005

rode up flagstaff today, it is so nice that such an awesome, beautiful climb is right outside my doorstep. this could be my favorite climb in boulder.

miss gracen, my neice, is losing her first tooth! wahoo, get that toothfairy for all he is worth gracen!

my parents take this self pic while in san francisco with their new camera phone. very technically savvy.

jon, chad, and joey before the men's race. hanging out in their shammy before the race at bannock in downtown denver. possibly the coolest race that we have in the colorado front range.

our number one denver spoke fan, leah.

sharon the hammer pulled off a mean field sprint today in the race for fourth place. nice going, we don't call her hammer time for nothing.

Saturday, August 06, 2005

today we had a race, i didn't do so hot but my team came home with 2nd, 4th and 5th, and we all managed to beat jawanaman. wahoo. good job girls.

jon carefully installs our new lights in the kitchen.

the final product... boyfriend did good.

everyone enjoyed some elk out on the patio today. the meat was a bit tough, and...

some reported that their jaws were hurting, perhaps TMJ had set in during the dinner.

went to the shawn colvin concert tonight and i think they rang the bell (classes out) at the naropa school and they all came prancing over to the boulder theater. there were so many granola folks there it just about killed me. that's one of the things that bothers me about boulder, people that are so green and natural. they think everything you do is killing the earth. But then you read today in the daily camera they confirmed that the prairie dogs have the plague. these granolas are trying to save the prairie dogs. what about saving the people in boulder from the plague?
