carmello small of vitamin cottage won the women's state criterium championship yesterday in golden, co.

anne and i (sparky came along too, she took the pic) went for a morning spin before the big state criterium in golden tonight.

the jets for the bolder boulder ceremony went right over our house this morning. it was pretty cool to watch. they fly really low and it is very "in your face".

then we watched the women and men's race. sarah slammerlinghterness or something like that from cu won the women's in an impressive solo move. sara valenti, jon's sister ran with her their freshman year.

the vitamin cottage women did great today in the red rocks community college race. carmello made a solo move 15 minutes into the race and it stuck!!! that set sparky and i up perfectly to just sit in the pack and make everyone else try to chase her down. ms. carmello ended up winning and putting 90 seconds into the field. i duked it out for 3rd, and sparky came in at 7th. currently the vitamin cottage girls are 2nd, 4th and 5th in the overall omnium points.

jon battles the zirbeast for the sprint. he ended up 3rd as well, but is leading the overall omnium by 3 points.

sparky, jon and i went to pei wei (pronounced pay way, not pee wee) for dinner (cheaper version of pf changs). i love lettuce wraps.

then we had a beautiful drive home, with 50 mph sustained crosswinds on 93.

i hope the wind calms down for the running race the bolder boulder tomorrow or else there will be very slow times since it will be a headwind most of the way. thankfully i am not doing it, but good luck to erin and bridget.

jon and i met up with scooter junkies timmy and lauren and hit the streets of boulder. our destination was the boulder creek festival.

we were stopped by a lot of stoplights.

surprisingly, there was a lot of "texas" themed items at the boulder creek festival. here is one example. mmmm, fried food, texas style. boulder health nuts love this stuff.

erin has her eye on quite possibly the most hideous looking jacket in all of colorado.

he went with the funnel cake. he claims it is his first one, and his parents would never buy it for him when they went to funnel cake festivals.

my boy, remington (yes, like the gun) making my cinnamon crepe. he was about 12 and i think violated about that many health codes.

last night "the girls" got together at anne's house and had some delicious tim's thai in longmont. (that place is dang good thanks anne for getting it for us, you're the best). the highlight of the night is when a field mouse ran across the back porch and people were jumping on their chairs and screaming.

in other news, i think i just bravely killed a black widow with antibacterial lysol kitchen spray (w/ bleach). i think it was the bleach that did it. do black widows even live in the rocky mountain region?

jon, chad, lauren and timmy enjoy the beautiful evening and the road noise from baseline. (jon and i pretend everytime a car goes by that what we are really hearing is a wave crashing, it kinda works, but it is still a bit annoying hearing the cars.)

i put missy to work in the kitchen.

i wanted to get a picuture of all the birdies before they learned to fly, and right when the flash went off on the camera they all flew away. it is an hour later and they still aren't back. oops.

last night we celebrated mother's day with madre tarkington and the family. we went to our new favorite place il pastaio.

sara made a deeeelish dish for dessert. fat free, gluten free, cholesterol free, lite sugar, with a dusting of powdered sugar chocolate cake.

the storage wreck (or now sun microsystems) coal miners classic race was HOT! i don't mean like paris hilton saying, "that's hot", i mean like 91 degrees at our start. as always, that race is run really well. this year they were remembering scott kornfeld a cyclist that recently passed away and they had nice lance armstrong-esq blue armbands. a nice touch.

the race was same old thing, really fast and group sprint at the end. we tried to get off of the front with some girls, but didn't work. oh well. vc came away with three top tens at 5th, 6th and 9th.

next week is the rocky mountain omnium involving a time trial, and 2 crits. i love going around in circles, and i plan on riding the stealth bomber time trial bike with our faster than poop disc wheel, so it will be fun.

sparky, anne and i did a ride and ended up hitting a lot of garage sales. this sweet sears bike that anne is testing was going for $10. we didn't buy it but it was a steal of a deal.

next stop was the garage sale at 5 time world champion triathlete simon lessing's house. i came back later with my car and cleaned him out. he gave me a sweet deal that this ebay queen couldn't pass up.

bush goes on dune buggy rides. his job looks SO fun. lucky.

we had a good time at our bi-monthly "girls night" meeting. erin, (concentrating on the food) anne, and bridget sit down for a beautifully cooked meal. bridget cooked chicken and tomatoes with goat cheese (apparently on her non-dairy diet).

meeeegan is all smiles, erin still concentrating.

wait a minute, those aren't chicken breasts.

this is when bridget whips out the pseudo bra thing she wore to last weeks wedding in houston.

we were so loud on her back porch that the neighbor boy came out to see what the heck was going on.

should i go to this race? circle yes or no.

a bee flew in my mouth today as i was doing my tempo ride up to jamestown. (tempo rides = an open mouth, unless you are the iceman) now this has happened many times before, but always resulted in a sting. not this time, this time i remained calm and let the wind take the little dude out. quick thinking huh?

after that i counted how many bugs hit me on my ride and the total number was 17. when i got home i had three mini bugs stuck to my legs.

what's up with the bugs? i guess they want to enjoy the fine weather too.

jon had a very eventful day. aside from cleaning the garage he saved someone's life. (he won't let me blog about it, ask him about it, that will teach him not to censor my blog.)

jon had an appointment with R2D2 vac and cleaned the whole garage. you know those little annoying cottonball things flying around in the air this time of year? somehow all of them ended up in our garage. it was like a cottonwood cottonball convention in there.

the 6 birdies in our wreath don't seem to mind the smell of their own bird waste. someone call merry birds, we need to sanitize.

griffin (nephew) is either:
a. going to the war zone.
b. dressed for trick or treating.
c. getting ready for the ski season.
d. putting on anything he can get his hands on.

climbed south st. vrain today up to raymond and then down the dirt into jamestown. i love the town of raymond, it is so peaceful, you have the river, and the kind people that work at the raymond store. however, i wouldn't want to live there during a year of high precipitation, the river must flood a bunch of those cute little cabins on the water.

visiting the store for some coca cola. they sell raymond store t-shirts here. a little pricey though.

we raced wheels of thunder, today. it is a circuit course out on top of this mesa used for training policefolk. every other lap is a $20 prime, so we ended up getting two of those. our finish wasn't so savy though, and we all placed like 6, 7 and 8th.

today there was a rattlesnake in the middle of the course, so on the first lap we were stopped and then some self proclaimed red neck bike racer came over with a big stick and a fire extinguisher to get the hissing dude out of the way. it was crazy, the thing was MAD! no one was hurt in the incident, but it makes for a great story.
