jon and i went to eat sushi tonight. at this particular place you pick up what you want as the boat floats around with different combinations.

we went to the grocery store on the walk home to buy some breakfast essentials. as we were walking down the toy row we noticed that ralph's (grocery store) decided that "my bling bling" barbie needs to be placed strategically next to her sidekick, skyy vodka.

it's nice weather now, however i am a bit chilled with this 55 degree stuff. i blog every night from this same spot, mostly because it is beautiful, but also because there is a real fast poached wireless connection.
it has been rainy here for the past two days. (and i haven't taken my camera on the rainy rides) i guess rain is better than snow. yesterday was worse than today. we only got in a tiny 1 hour slug fest up soledad twice. today we went for 3 hours with only about an hour of it in rain.

there's that van down by the ocean again.

this forecast in boulder has caused us to extend the san diego fat camp of 2007.

jon and i had an easy day today. we road to the s.d. presido then looped around balboa park. click here for the map.

me and a really cool museum. i believe it was the museum of man. whatever that means, what about wo-man?

then we went to the san diego velodrome. we met this dude there that decided breaking in by climbing the fence was a good idea. we really wanted to do this too, but we were scared of balancing in our cleats on a very small piece of fence to get us up there.

we went to this great georgian restaurant for dinner. no, this is not cuisine native to the atlanta area, but from the state in russia. they had this crazy dessert called toad's sweat which was vanilla ice cream with super dooper spicy habanaro chile pepper chocolate sauce. it was a crazy mix, but very good.

and then totally off topic. who was the marketing genius that thought this was a good idea for a cereal box? are they overly happy because there is 33% fiber or are they really good friends?

today jon and i rode from san marcos to pala indian reservation then to the booming metropolis of temecula. then we came back via a bunch of awesome canyons that smelled really nice and had those overhanging oak trees that i love.

our big drop into the pala indian reservation. we dropped about 2000 feet into what i swore was mexico, but it was just pala.

mark your calendars.

some kind of cow.

and a little baby der-per-der cow.

we passed about 3000 avocados that had fallen off of the trees from the recent freeze. finally jon stopped and picked one up, then i did too, and we had guacamole sans chips right there on our bikes.

we came home to chef fundingsland making sushi rolls.

ummm, homemade sushi. (and no one got sick either)

i am carrying around a garmin in my pocket and jon downloaded our first two rides. click here for yesterday, and here for today.

the great thing about riding with the garmin is i always know how much farther until we get back to our starting point. jon is thankful too since i don't ask how much farther anymore.

happy birthday to mr. ryan! he's one.

jon and i got out on a longer than expected ride north to carlsbad and all the cities in between. (4:20 which is my longest ride in a year) this pic is at cardiff by the sea park.

sometimes when i feel bonkish i dig deep in my pockets and pay $2.00 for this sweet pick me up.

downtown rancho santa fe (this pic is for friend, former resident and fellow blogger, leah)

rancho santa fe was beautiful. no wonder the cult that once lived here was called heaven's gate, cause it is heavenly. there are lots of overhanging eucalyptus trees and flowers, and it smells like what i imagine heaven would smell like too.

today when i took a break to relieve myself i did so in this little hidden spot along the road in heaven, and as i was doing so i looked up and saw this sign.

awesome 24/7/365 video surveillance

more fun signs: if you enjoy seeing squirrels don't feed them. that's so untrue, must be opposite day.

at torrey pines golf course we saw this sign. only lexus, mercedes, bmw, porche, etc... but absolutly NO BUICKS!

so since we are having such a good time (except for yesterday) i think we are going to extend our stay by 5 days. i have absolutely no need to get back to the snow!
i didn't get any pictures on our ride yesterday, but let's just say that i kept singing the dumb song, "i had a bad day". the problem is that those are the only words that i know so i just kept singing the same ones over and over. (more on that story later if i feel up to blogging about it, maybe at the end of the trip.)

the view from our hotel room with the "dude" van in the bottom corner. they are living in a van down by the river, i mean ocean.

some really good juice that we found at trader joes. it's like dessert in a bottle, and very healing. (i think)

tractor races on the beach.

i've never been so happy to see a palm tree in my life. i am happy to report that san diego has no snow on the ground.

according to the news global warming is here. it just decided to skip over colorado.

impulsive buy from the target check out stand: chocolate bubble yum

3 things i didn't like about it
a. i had to remind myself not to swallow the gum because it tasted like chocolate, and not gum
2. the chocolate taste was gone after two minutes of chewing
3. the fact that i actually bought it

3 things i liked about it
1. the snazzy packaging
b. the initial 10 chews are bursting with hershey flavor
3. the fact that every artificial color of the # rainbow is used to make brown

(and yes i know i used letters and # in my list, it is to be sorta funny and stupid at the same time)

only a couple more days until we get out of this crap. (yes it snowed again for the 5th weekend in a row) jon and i are in dire need of some bad bike short tan lines!

yesterday anne and i again went skate skiing at devil's thumb ranch next to winter park.

while there we met up with sharon the hammer and jim.

then we saw lauren, grayson, and heather. when there is no way to ride your bike in the snow, and we are sick of riding indoors, you end up seeing half of the cycling scene at the skate skiing parks.

the girls making it up one of the many hills. this sport is not for a good time, it really hurts. although according to my handy little garmin, we did spend 2 hours skiing and 51 minutes talking and hanging out.

a big momma moose that we saw by anne's place in winter park.

a teeny tiny baby moose hanging out with his momma.

later that night it was back to denver for jim's 40th birthday party. it was supposed to be a 70's theme party and only a handful of people dressed up. (i didn't read the invite properly or i would have been in a sweet outfit)

jim got one of these for his birthday. i think jon, grayson, laruen, and i spent about an hour playing with it in the living room. if you are looking for a good present for a dorky gadgety kinda girl or guy this is the present you need. click

i got new skate skis and boots from the parents for my birthday. today was the first day i tried them out. anne and i drove up to winter park and hit devils thumb ranch. it was the first time in my skate skiing life that i wish i had the stamina to skate longer because it was simply put, awesome.

anne and our good friend the sun.

it was real purty out there today, and quite warm.

jolly green giant.

tomorrow we are waking up early to watch a race. carmen, former vitamin cottage racer, will be duking it out. then hopefully meeting up with sharon the hammer and her 40 year old husband, jim the nail. (tomorrow is his bday)

last night jon and i went to the boulder theater to see the ACA Junior fundraiser: a night of cycling greats- past to present. it was cool. they interviewed: Tom Danielson, Ned Overend, Andy Hampsten, Ron Kiefel, Alexi Grewal, and Connie Carpenter.

i forgot my camera, so i used jon's camera phone. here tom is talking about one of his many wins. it was neat to watch it on the big screen and then hear what he had to say about the win, and how he felt about it.

is is wrong that i only enjoy the first couple of episodes of american idol because of how BAD some people sing?

for any of you that watched last night, this girl was my favorite. she sang david bowie's, "under pressure" and claimed to be, and i quote, "like the most like biggest like american idol fan ever".

then another favorite thing is watching the faces of the judges. paula was getting really into it last night. i heard that she is sponsored by both coca-cola and jim beam.
