After a whirlwind travel day from san diego on sunday, and a 4th place (beth 4th, and superstar anne lannan taking the solo win) and 3rd place (jon) finish in the Salida Criterium, jon and I venture out on a 5.5 hour mountain bike ride on Monarch Crest trail at 12,000 ft in central Colorado. The ride was supposed to be 4 hours, but after MUCH too MUCH stopping it ended up being a long 5.5 hours. I bonked harder then I have bonked in at least two years. After taking a month and a half off of training to travel for various wedding/family events it was to be expected that the pain of not training would punish me on this ride. We went with Alex and SyRae and three of their hockey buddies, and picked up Greg White (if said too fast sounds like great white, we called him GW) who is doing a huge tour of the colorado mountain bikeing scene. Here is his site.

I'm jealous that you are riding in arm warmers and knee warmers. It's so hot here my tires are sticking to the pavement. Blah!
