mini tiger and the hens that run the island outside our window. there was a big hurricane here in 1992 and all of the roosters survived, so there are tons of them on the island. you can hear them crow in the morning, luckily we are on mainland time so waking up at 6 a.m. is not a problem.

waimea canyon and the falls.

the swinging foot bridge, this thing was kinda scary, and jon didn't like it when i jumped up and down on it. it swayed pretty bad.

me falling a bit into the water when a big wave came on the 17 mile long polihale, hottest beach sand ever beach. it was a beach break so you really couldn't go out into the ocean very much, only up to your knees or you would have been carried out, and there were no lifeguards around to save you.

we hiked a ways to get to a sweet spot on the polihale beach where there were only about five other people within 5 miles of us.

coffee on the porch.

moon-like terrain on our way up waimea canyon.

today we did the whole north and east side of the island. stopped at a coffee plantation and saw production of that and bought a video. it is really pretty interesting and i got the cheapest iced coffee i have ever bought (1.50) then came back to the hotel around being out exploring the north and east side for the past 8 hours and sat in the hot tub when it started to pour rain. it was pretty neat. now we are eating take out mexican and relaxing. more to come.
