this weekend we went up to the tarkington cabin. here we are sitting on the front porch.

this is the neighbor's outhouse. luckily we had indoor plumbing.

the view from the deck, the south platte river.

another part of the view is this sweet ass satellite dish. last known use was sometime around 1985. (actually, that's not true, we turned it on and the one channel we got was a minnesota lottery pick 5 powerball station. as you can imagaine, i couldn't take my eyes away.)

we went for a moutain bike ride up around the hayman fire area. hard to believe that some forestry lady angry at her estranged husband started this thing when she burned his letters. let this be a lesson to all of you who are thinking of lighting old love letters during a fire ban...it is a bad idea. she got 12 years for the mishap.

me, jon, sara and doug take a break to look at the view. just ignore my over sized glasses, i didn't know how dumb they looked until i took this photo. they look strikingly similar to these.

jon and the padre go for a jaunt down to the end of the road. (someone likes his cowboy hat even though he hates the cowboys.)

sara breaks out the vintage "pocket sized" carmera. looks a lot like this one from last week.

sara and doug go for a 5 minute mile run. jon and i passed.

we proudly show our support for gay fish with big eyes at this cabin.

it got down to the 40's last night so jon started a fire.

don't ask why i don't have any photos of the madre. i guess she was camera shy.
