who is this luggage-toting cell phone user? free cup of coffee to the first right answer-erer.

we met up with tiff at the largest, quietest, parking lot crit of all time. this race on thursday night was cool, but not nearly as cool as the excel sports cross race on wed.

the view from our room was pretty cool. here it is at night.

during the day shot.

and upon closer review the hilton had the largest, scariest poster. we slept with the curtains open and this image frightened me a little when i would wake up in the middle of the night.

manilow is the new newton... kinda like gold sequence is the new black. (but only in vegas)
some say that people that play slot machines are dumb. my theory is big bad card players are dumb because they lose more money. sure the odds are way worse on slots, but for the love of God, you're playing with 1 cent, 5 cent, and .25 cent machines. i took $30 out of my pocket and played off and on for 3 days with that money. i ended up $10 up, and it was kinda fun.

oh and for the record, all of the 1 cent machines were hogged up by cigarette smoking old people gambling with their retirement. i mostly played the high rollin' 25 cent'rs.

still too cheap for a cab

this town really is pretty lame, but a great place to raise your kids... no really, if you aren't really drunk at all times or winning really big it is just a cluster of crap in the middle of a desert. (sorry, that's just my opinion and i'm stickin' to it)

the excel sports cross vegas race was tonight, and it was a packed house. it was a great crowd, thousands of interbikers showed up to watch our very own jon "the cookie" baker get 7th with ryan "treefarm" trebon winning.

ann, me, elvis and amy enjoying the race.

me and axel merckx, he kinda looks like a 6 foot 3 inch version of jon.

this bike manufacturer is getting trendy with their new paint job. it's the 3rd grader finger painting look. i am gonna have to say this is real ugly.

we've done a lot of walking. i feel like we are well dressed hippies walking around town with our euro backpacks since we are too cheap for a cab.

derek and jon hamming it up for the camera.

AND THE WINNING ROCK IS... (drum roll)

screened river rock

thanks to everyone for their rock insight. all 14 comments (a new high for blog comments) were so very helpful.
on my hike today i saw 3 big bear poops. from what i could tell crab apples go right through them. needless to say, seeing the poops made my leisurely hike turn into a trail run.

i'm having a hard time deciding on rock to spread in my flowerbeds. please vote for your favorite. i know it all looks the same to you, but look carefully, they are different. (please leave a hard, thought out answer in the comments section.)

i am guessing genevieve was running low on epo when much to everyone's surprise i was climbing with her and other non climbers at redlands 3 years ago.

the new fence is done. (thanks to amy rooty tooty fresh and fruity)

while applying 2 coats of stain i found this shade to be a good bronzer (i accidentally sprayed my arms more than once).

bright idea of the day: i can run my own spray on tan business with the new high powered paint sprayer thingy.

floyd landis, stripped from the tour's yellow jersey, must now wear this squirrel coat with no pants for 2 years as punishment.

one of the coolest inventions of all time: the paint sprayer thingy.
today's funny daily camera clippings.

simpson's biggest and only fan outside the courthouse. here are 3 things i noticed to be wrong with his sign.
1. it should be O.J. (comma), not O.J. God (comma).
2. it should be WILL not WELL.
3. it is very doubtful God will save "the juice". in fact i'm pretty sure he is going to hell.

i hope these hygiene monitors get paid well.

oh, and duh, didn't we already know that women wash their hands more than men? did we really need research to prove this?

so jon and i thought it would be a good idea to rent a pull trailer for tiffany and steve's wedding up in the la sal mountains for 4 days. i forgot my camera at the wedding so i don't have your typical photos of the kiss, the vows, the dance. i did dj the wedding and i must admit it went off. the highlight being when i played young mc's bust a move. that's when people busted out their 80's break dancing moves.

here are some pics from the week.

the fun finder pulled by our under powered f150.

the shower and toilet (the whole reason i wanted to rent it since we were camping up in the boonies.) jon and i consider ourselves pretty slim/fit people and we barley fit in the thing. i was also only allotted a 3-4 minute shower. he started yelling at me to get out if i left it running more than 30 seconds. let's just say it was better than no shower at all, but just a smidgen better.

our sleeping arrangements involved lamby flannel sheets, sleeping bags, and a camo comforter.

we started out the journey with a stop in fruita to ride mary's loop and the ever so fun horse thief loop. the view of the colorado river was beautiful.

me riding the loop.

tiff and steve the loving couple getting married.

our first ride in the la sals involved herding cattle and hoping the didn't trample us.

the view from our campsite.

the kitchen.

eric the professional marshmallow roaster with cute little ernesto looking on.

the big wedding day hike involved about 40 people and it was a blast.

INSERT WHAT SHOULD BE WEDDING PHOTOS HERE... IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING OVERLOOKING MOAB AND THE CANYONLANDS.

the next day we went for another ride, but it started pouring rain before the start so some of us huddled in our 4x4 of fun.
jon's all tough and stuff, so he stood out in the rain testing his breathable girodana rain jacket.
mojo thinking of jumping.
diane coming down one of the rocky sections. i take that back, it was all rocky. (a good reason for a full suspension bike)
everyone hanging out at an old homestead we found along the trail overlooking the huge drop into the canyon below.
and then here are some pretty pictures i took just cause it was so pretty.

the last night of our stay jon and i were up at the campground all alone and there was one of the worst thunderstorms i have ever experienced. it was really hard to sleep. i kept thinking about a road washing out below and us not being able to get home, lightning hitting the fun finder, forest fires... etc. oh, and we ran out of all gas and power at this point so we froze to death this night. (not really, but we did see that it snowed above us in the mountains)
bottom line: the wedding was great, the people were top notch, but rv'ing just isn't for me. good news is jon and i were thinking about buying one of these rv things so we just saved ourselves a butt load of money. we will not be rv'ing anytime soon. call us names if you must, call us softies, call us what you want, but we really love a good shower and a nice bed at the comfort inn.
