man, this is a good mr. t video - styling - everybody got to wear clothes, and if you don't you'll get arrested.
wise words from a man that wears 10 gold rings and man overalls.

if only this wattage were true... too bad my power tap done broke, AGAIN!!! it is so frustrating, it is almost as if the workout doesn't count.
i had a bad day today, i drove out to meet sparky at the golden gate park road and she ended up forgetting her gear bag at home so i had to ride alone. then there was a super duper headwind, my power tap was not reading my wattage correctly, and since i just got my tap back from the saris group i accidentally put on a 9 speed shimano 12-25 (i prefer a 27) with my campy groupo. the highlight of my bad day came when i took a "nature potty" and suddenly a gust of wind had me urinating on my shoes.
yeah, what a day. hope tomorrow is better.

bad: it is snowing again
good: CU is on spring break and there are about 28,000 less cars on the road
i remember when i went to college in a resort type town and i overheard how much the people hated us i never understood why... now i totally understand.

jon and i are up in beaver creek with my parents. right now it is 65 degrees and slush city on the slopes.
after skiing we all sat around and watched jon on "interweb" (name that movie quote and i'll send you a dollar). click here for his velonews interviews. part 1 and part 2.
it is my dad's 59th birthday today. he never falls, but today while testing his fitness at this new age, he fell and broke a rib. you can tell he is thrilled.

c-ray and i took the my new ride up to betasso for a spin today. we had a good ole time. at one point during the ride i realized i was smiling uncontrollably. then i thought to myself, you never really smile too much on your road bike unless someone told you a really funny story. too bad i am not as savvy on the mtn. bike as i am on the road bike, or else i might have to change my cycling focus.

erin huck (in black) produced some mega wattage at the hill on the last lap. sparky and i caught on for the ride while lisa blocked the rest of the field. erin selflessly lead us to a victory. thanks erin, we owe you, even though you didn't mean to lead us out.
the girls share the heart palpitating spike energy drink after the race. puff puff give. (name that quote)
lisa "pink helmet" matlock is not impressed.
how cute are the kids... check out the kid in the sponge bob jersey, he's wearing his helmet like a horse bit. then there is the little girl that forgot pants in the front row. man, kids are funny to watch.

holy crap, mara "johnny apple seed" abbott won oak glen at redlands! (one of the hardest road races out there)
Thursday, March 22, 2007
i would like to point out to all my friends at redlands that they kept the flyer from last year. (click) looks like i have a wet mullet coming out of my helmet.
i got some of these free clif bar shot bloks at the race two weeks ago (the same race i got the free spike energy drink from). now here's my question, who's the genius that thought that margarita is a good flavor to infuse into a shot blok? i don't enjoy the tequila aftertaste while exercising, call me crazy, it just doesn't work for me.

i did a pre-ride of the koppenpoo yesterday, and i took some pics for some people wondering about the road conditions. the dirt looks really good, almost like riding on pavement, and there isn't any gravel.
the hill has potential for "endoing" at the very base. there is a dip that fits your front wheel perfectly, so be careful there. otherwise it is in good condition aside from some gravel on the first part.

i debated whether or not to ride vin's hot vc razor in the race today. (you can't see it but the stem is lined with purple velvet)
the women's race was a 37 mile hot dog shaped roller coaster ride type race. sparky got away in a break on the second lap with carol from excel. she won, and you can check out her win pic here.
it was beautiful scenery and i think they filmed the rae dawn chong cult classic american flyers on some of that road.

when i got home i decided it was a good day for weeding. i saw a hole and inside there was this...

it is either
a. a snake egg
b. an old pastel colored easter egg
c. a snake egg
d. most definitely a snake egg
what do you think it is?

looks like it is another day on the trainer for me. jon left this morning at 8 when it wasn't raining and came home soaking and cold. he is like a crazy euro cyclist.
weather here is whack, two days ago i was sweating and in shorts (nothing on the knees) now it is cold/wet and i am riding inside. i guess that's why they call it colorful colorado, because it has a lot of personalities.

i don't know how best friend (b/f/f) katie compton can drink this stuff before a race and not pass out. i tried it after my race on sunday and i will never go there again. it took me to a far off place where hearts beat faster than hummingbirds and you salivate like a dog. seriously, it was scary.
later that day i was telling someone about spike and they asked if i read the side of the can. it says only drink half a can at a time. well, that just doesn't make sense to me. if you are supposed to drink half the can then why not make it in half cans?

finally, spring is here and the colorado racing season is up and running. it is so nice to see everyone out and about on this beautiful and long (w/ the time change and all) day.
my race went well with a win, mateeeeyaja got second, and third drank a bottle of harry potter invisible potion and cannot be seen.
watching the young kids go up the stazio hill of death kinda made the win less impressive. (i love the look the kid in the blue is giving the yellow jersey, i bet he is wondering how that bmx dirt jumper w/ a handy water bottle cage can beat his road bike up the hill)
man, even these 4 year olds can get up the hill of death!
jon's race went well. vitamin cottage pulled back a pretty big/strong/manly break and dirk ended up getting 3rd for the team.
erin won a beer prime (pronounced preem) but didn't have a car to take it home, so she hid it in the tall weeds. quick thinking, she is all smart 'n stuff. she's an injuneer.
leah taddeucci in training... she did one arm curls, the shoulder press, shot put moves and then named it rocky. she's in heavy training for the highly contested presidential fitness challenge, i'm betting she wins the flexed arm hang.

another day of riding with my homeys.
this weekend starts the colorado racing scene for me with the stazio world championships. oh, i love stazio.
we received our new clothing for the year. i love getting the new stuff it feels like christmas. looks just like last years stuff, the things that are different are the specialized logo on the back and ergomo logo on the sleeve. same colors, matching beautifully... barney purple, neon lizard green, and sunrise orange. oh and they put eddy's name on the back of all the collars, nice touch.

Public health announcement for Peter Pan Lovers...
DENVER- Another three cases of salmonella connected to a recalled batch of peanut butter have been found in Colorado.
The Colorado Health Department says they want the three new cases to be a reminder to people not to eat the contaminated peanut butter, and to throw it out immediately. The total number of cases in Colorado is now 13. ConAgra recalled all Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter beginning with the 2111 code in addition to destroying all affected products in their possession.

uh oh...

" ...beginning with the 2111 code"
make that a double uh oh

last night jon came home with a bag of jelly belly sport beans and little jelly belly sampler packs. it sure is nice knowing someone who rides bikes for the best candy in the world. (besides whatchamacallits)
sparky weaving up superjames , she was not having a good time. i think she was a little annoyed that i kept telling her that the top was "just around the next bend" when really i had no idea where the climb ended. turns out it is at mile marker 7.
oooooh, fresh red bull at the ward general store.
check out sparky's blog she should have some more fun pics up soon.

yesterday was the (not so many) arches national park ride. it was a sweet ride, very few cars, and a lot to look at.
we decided not to pack spare tires because the girls had it covered.
getting stuck in your clothing is one of the many trials and tribulations of wearing bib shorts, being a girl, and having to go pee.

fat camp 2007 started out at the eklectic coffee house with a latin latte cubano (deelish) they told us that they filter it through brown sugar and coffee and then put some evapo milk in it. we'll be there again tomorrow morning.
we hit slickrock today because you "have to do it before you die" i remember i tried riding it in the summer of 2000 and i thought i was going to die. it was hot and really technical, i turned around early. this time i am in much better shape, it was really cold and i did it with two of the funniest people i know. (3 times today i nearly shot gatorade through my nose)
kenniqua set up this "artsy" shot of us above the green river, she was real proud of using the bike as her tripod.
me and the la sal mountain range in the background.
c-ray riding a super technical part on the trail. there is only about one or two places where it is super hard to ride and this is one of them, but she did it like a champ. kenniqua and i walked. i walked a lot, i blame my bike.
c ray just plopped down after her big technical move and then we all discussed whether or not the river in the background is the colorado or green river. how stupid were we, obviously it is green, therefore it must be the green river, those indians were super original naming this one. (if anyone knows who named the green river please tell me in the comments section)
we went shopping later that night and found the "fitovers". they do exactly what they say, they fitover your face. kenny models them for the camera. (look at her right eye, spooky)
