last night we celebrated sams 1 week and 1 day birthday with some ice cream. he slept through the entire celebration.

yesterday i accidentally called lucy "big" which she interpreted as fat, and she blew up at me. it isn't that i was calling her fat (i mean look at me lucy) it was just that i am so used to teeny tiny sam and i hadn't seen her in a while. she was so mad at me, this is my formal apology.

jon is still working hard for the ACA while keeping a sharp eye on sam the man.

sam's first younger female visitor, the uber cute elie yates. maggie and i decided that if they don't have a prom date in 18 years then they can go together. it's kinda like an arranged marriage, but not really cause it's just prom.

mimi and popi take sam on his first real ride in the chariot. i can't say enough great stuff about this strolling machine.

today was the first day i could walk more than a mile without wanting to lay down and sleep. slowly but surely i am getting back into the active lifestyle, but it may take a while to get back on the bike. looks like i am going to be a jogger/runner/walker for a while.

leah sees cycling in sam's future and did a little photoshop job on his noggin. he definitely got his daddy's climbing legs as seen in the pic below.

we got out of the hospital last night around 7 p.m. sam seems to love his new home, he loves it so much that he likes to stay up all night and look around. parenting is hard work just a shout out to all my pregnant friends out there. get ready for it, and sleep now.

popi (douglas) arrived last night to meet the little man. he has now met everyone he is named after and he seems to like everyone.

aunt sara, sam, the madre, and aunt margaret came for a visit yesterday.

we are doing well. i am still being watched at the hospital because my "huge cycling hematocrit" (haha) dropped to 22 and i looked quite awful. apparently i look a little better, but i don't know when they are going to release us. i'm pretty banged up from the event, but the good news is that sam douglas teton tarkington is in great shape. the boy feeds like a champ, lets us sleep more than an hour at a time, and is so darn sweet. we are truly blessed. thanks for all the support and emails.

today was spent with jon mowing the lawn and mom and i cleaning the house. your basic nesting instincts when you know that you won't be able to do anything for a week after the baby comes on monday.

sparky taught me a little trick about when your mom is visiting. she told me to say, "mom, how do you __________ so well at your house." (fill in the blank spot with whatever you want done) for example, "mom, how do you get this grimy soap residue off the shower tile?" then mom says, "oh honey that's easy." and proceeds to finish cleaning the shower you didn't want to clean.

it's a genius move, thanks sparky for the idea.

today the madre (jon's mom) and mimi (my mom) went to charming nails beauty salon to get some free flip flops, a nice shimmer on their fingers, and a minor infection on their feet.

just kidding charming nails is actually very clean.

first j-lo, then jaime lynn 12 year old spears, and now brangelina beat me in the birthing department. dang it.

i love this shirt.

my parents have been visiting us for 10 days now anticipating the arrival of the baby that doesn't want to come out. they have been treating us to breakfast, lunch, and dinner pretty much everyday. they have been folding our laundry, recycling our recycle-ables (something entirely new to houstonians), taking out the trash, unloading the dishwasher, entertaining us, and above all being very patient with this baby that doesn't want to come out. thanks mom and dad for all your help. we are always one day closer to baby t. coming into our world, but i just can't tell you when that's going to be, but i hope it is soon.

sparky's sleeping arrangements are a bit cramped.

jon and i babysat sweet little lucy last night so lisa and derek could race short track. the hand-off could not have gone smoother. (notice lucy's face) i wish there was sound with this picture because for the first time in about a month i was happy that our baby is still hanging out in my belly.

she really is a good little girl, in fact, i've never seen her cry aside from when i changed her outfit because it smelled (or smelt) like milk, but i couldn't pass up this picture.

chellie (my gardener and walking buddy) had a really bad wreck last night at the boulder short track. everyone send her well wishes. she hurt her jaw/chin to the point that she needed surgery and has a concussion. she gets out of the community hospital today around noon.

to kill time the family took their time hanging out at safeway today. my dad loves free samples so we hang out by the peanut butter machines a lot and saw this...

i thought they did away with these signs a couple of years ago. you cannot imagine how happy i was to actually get to park here when my mom and i did some mother daughter shopping at nordstroms. it's like having handicap parking, but your handicap is a big belly.
