daddy did a great job of pulling him around eldora. i was thinking that maybe, just maybe, i could keep up with jon when he was pulling around 30 lbs of pure baby mass and aluminum. i was wrong, he was still skate skiing circles around me. it was impressive.


we stopped to munch on some clif blocs and bars. it was beautiful outside, about 50 degrees and sunny, sam loved being in the thick of the forest.

as some of you know it snowed 16" on thursday and sam was itching to get out all day.


jon took sam out on a snow cross (like motocross) course that he put together with a shovel and some imagination.


i think sam was pretty neutral on the whole idea...


...but daddy thought it was fun because he took him out again on friday. here's sam about to hit the whoop-ded-oos.

cousin kelly drove through boulder on her way back to sewanee (aka the university of the south). her and 3 other girls are on a 10 day spring break road trip, yes, 10 days.

kelly is known for her ability to sleep through anything so jon plopped baby sam next to her on the pull-out couch to wake her up this morning. i think she was happy to see him. (i can't rotate the picture, i don't know what the deal is)

chewy stole the show

sam and i went for a hike with cyndie and her lovely dog, chewy. chewy got all of the attention on the trail leaving sam wondering what the heck was up... his perplexed face.


then we sat by the sidewalk where everyone walks to get to the trail and practiced our waving. everyone smiled and goo-goo-ga-gaed over him, and he was no longer perplexed.

this weekend the madre watched mr. sam while mommy and daddy raced bikes. mommy raced crappy and needed some teammates, and daddy got 8th.

first long ride in a year and a half

today maegan and i went on an epic (not really, but it was for me since having sam) ride. we did the super secret route through linden/bow mountain to sunshine and then up to gold hill, and down my favorite 4 mile (which is really 8 or 9 miles).


my mom stayed home and walked with sam all over town.


he got a bath too.

sam is starting to crawl around A LOT. he is currently using the military crawl as his primary mode of transportation. he loves crawling under the bar stools, he crawls under all 4 of them and it is real cute.


i bought costco size m&ms yesterday. thankfully, my mom separated them into 100 calorie packs to curb my m&m appetite. it works, try it sometime.

mimi adventure

sam and mimi at the n. boulder park. my mom is visiting for a week and giving me some time to do some training for the upcoming bike season. thanks mom.


i overheard some mother's saying, "that baby is so daring and adventurous" (cause he is just about ready to fall out of the swing). i took it as a compliment.



i don't know what i was wearing today. the clam digger-shorts, mom sweater, clunky shoes and bruce lee pink t-shirt was a bad choice on my part. don't judge.

windy ride

cathy and i had a rather pleasant ride this morning if you count out the fact that we had to scream at each other while talking over the raging wind. i invited like 7 other girls to join us, but were all too scared of the wind. suck it up, sisters!


on the way home i got myself a quad americano and utilized my second water bottle cage. water's for sissies.

we weighed sam the other day and he is 19 lbs. such a big boy.

pep swimming

this news really bums me out... pepperdine ending women's swimming program. i have so many great memories with all my girls in the pool, and i am sorry that other women in the sport are never going to have the pepperdine swimming experience.

oval criterium (first race of the year)

yesterday was the oval crit up in ft. fun, colorado. here are some pictures from my first race back post baby sam.

carol leading the charge to try to pull back the lead break that we missed, oops. we may want to conserve a little energy at the beginning of the race next time, lesson learned. i do want to say that i was proud of how our team worked together. carol and jenna were awesome.

jenna and carol gave me a great lead out, but i just couldn't close the deal. for some reason going into today i thought i would be ALOT more fit than i actually am. i thought hours and hours of pulling sam around in the trailer = a mean sprint. i was wrong.

after the race carol had me, amy (not on vc, but very much wants to be) and half of maegan's face over for chilli and cornbread. others were there too, but not pictured.


baby sam had a great time over at carol and tim's ultraclean place. he played on the floor with his toys, had a very large poop (record breaker), and made everyone laugh while doing so.

i also wanted to thank jon for watching sam while i raced. (and he didn't get to) what a great husband.
